Bite Adjustment
At Mainline Dental Arts, a healthy bite is one in which all or most teeth are present and able to withstand normal daily use without damage.
A bite can become harmful when teeth show signs of wear, looseness, or when issues with the TMJ (jaw joint) develop. Bite therapy is designed to restore proper function, helping your bite work comfortably and effectively without causing further damage. Depending on individual needs, treatment may include:
- Selective reshaping of biting surfaces to remove high-pressure contact points and evenly distribute bite forces across all teeth.
- Bite splint therapy, using a custom-made and precisely adjusted plastic bite guard, worn during the day, at night, or both, to reduce stress on teeth and jaw joints.
- Orthodontic treatment (braces) to correct misaligned or shifted teeth.
- Replacement of old, worn, or damaged fillings that affect bite balance.
Reconstruction of severely worn or damaged teeth to restore strength, function, and comfort.
